Pearl Meyer & Partners Expands Executive Compensation Communication Consulting Services
The biggest U.S. companies are shifting away from gross-up provisions, which were once-common payments
NEW YORK—January 15, 2014—Independent executive pay consultancy Pearl Meyer & Partners announced that Sharon Podstupka, a long-time specialist in the strategic communication of complex executive compensation programs to key internal and external stakeholders, has joined the firm as a Vice President in its New York office.
“With executive pay now a mainstream issue, corporate messaging around pay-for-performance shouldn’t begin or end with the proxy season,” said David N. Swinford, President and CEO of Pearl Meyer & Partners. “Sharon’s proven communication expertise and broad industry experience expands our ability to help companies determine the best content, timing and venues to effectively convey the real substance and value of their performance-based pay programs.”
The firm works with clients to develop a year-round exchange of information with key stakeholders. Communication is focused on addressing the different interests and needs of multiple constituencies, from executives and investors to proxy advisors and the media.
“It’s no longer enough to provide an overview of how programs work and report what executives earned,” said Sharon. “The imperative for companies today is to demonstrate exactly how executive pay designs support key business strategies and talent needs, resulting in appropriate rewards and long-term shareholder value.”
Sharon joined PM&P after 17 years at Towers Watson, where she served as a Director in the Talent & Rewards segment. In her most recent role, she led the Executive Compensation Communications Services team for the Americas, publishing several articles in “Executive Pay Matters” and presenting at the Conference Board’s 2013 Executive Compensation Conference. Prior to that, she was a compensation and benefits administrator and communication specialist at EMI-Capitol Music Group.
Sharon holds a B.F.A. in Communication Arts from New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury.
