Boards and CEOs Are Confident. The Rest of the C-Suite Isn’t So Sure.
AI investment is outpacing decision-making, leading to friction.

CEOs and boards are missing key points of misalignment with other C-suite leaders, a new report from Pearl Meyer suggests. Top executives say they are struggling to come together as a team to execute on strategic goals, while directors and CEOs don't seem to recognize an issue, the report found. One key area of dissonance is artificial intelligence, where investment seems to be moving faster than organizational decision-making and accountability, leading to friction between division leaders. "Boards should establish a recurring, structured forum for hearing directly from senior leaders about where enterprise trade-offs are proving difficult, rather than relying on informal updates," the report says.
