An AI Confidence Gap Is Emerging in the C-Suite

Corporate leadership may be underestimating how much work it takes to implement AI, skewing estimates of how long it will take to see impacts.

Principal Brad Jayne was featured in the Agenda piece, “An AI Confidence Gap Is Emerging in the C-Suite.”

Companies across sectors are pursuing profound strategic shifts to accommodate the unprecedented level of automation that has become possible with the advent of artificial intelligence. However, corporate leadership—including chief executives and directors—have greater, and perhaps misplaced, confidence in their organization's ability to undertake this transformation than other members of the C-suite, according to a new survey by Pearl Meyer.

One way to get more straightforward feedback about the challenges of AI transformation, and therefore the timeline for return on investments, is to ask executives what the company needs to deprioritize in order to make space for the work that it takes to implement AI effectively, said Brad Jayne, a principal consultant at Pearl Meyer.

At Pearl Meyer, we work with boards and organizations to design and implement compensation and leadership strategies that build great management teams.
