While 2025 isn't expected to be that disappointing, it could be rather ho-hum, with bonuses, on average, expected to rise 2.5% to 5%, according to a report. Last year, insurance workers were expecting increases of about 5% to 10%, on average... Then there's the health insurers... They have had a tough year, with some struggling more than others. This disparity is expected to manifest at bonus time. Many "were way off with their estimates on financial performance," said Tim Dupuis, principal at compensation consultancy Pearl Meyer.
Health payers have faced a combination of rising medical costs, high utilization rates, and costly new therapies. This year, the US health insurance industry reported its worst underwriting profits for any second quarter in more than a decade, according to data from S&P Capital IQ Pro.
"There's just a lot of unknowns," Dupuis said.
