Principal Brad Jayne was quoted in the Agenda article “Internal Friction Is Blocking AI Growth, but Boards Can Fix It.”

Large organizations can struggle to implement new technology quickly, said Brad Jayne, principal consultant in Pearl Meyer's leadership practice. Rolling out a new data system or customer relationship management system can take three to five years for the largest organizations and even longer to get every region switched over and communicating together.

Now with AI, an "urgency factor" is pushing businesses to make more rapid gains, but the friction caused by legacy bureaucracies and internal complexities is slowing them down, Jayne said. "Organizations ... are trying to move at light speed, and that's very difficult to do," he added...

"Often, we tell clients we're not assessing for AI capability; we assess for the ability ... to be learning-agile, to be flexible, to be able to drive organizational change — and that's what this is," Jayne said. "You don't have to go out and buy talent. Find the leaders internally that can do that type of learning."

At Pearl Meyer, we work with boards and organizations to design and implement compensation and leadership strategies that build great management teams.
